More about this in Bellaire
A garage door cable crooked on its drum means the wire is winding in overlapping or uneven loops instead of laying flat, turn after turn. Left alone, that uneven winding puts extra strain on the exact spot where a cable is most likely to fray next. Call (346) 220-4724 and describe which side looks uneven before running the door through another cycle.
Why a garage door cable crooked on the drum matters
A cable that winds crooked is usually reacting to something slightly off elsewhere — a drum that's shifted position on its shaft, or tension that's not quite matched between the two sides of the door. Garage door cable crooked winding rarely fixes itself and tends to get worse with every cycle.
A garage door cable crooked from drum misalignment
If the drum itself has slid slightly along the shaft, the cable will wind at a slight angle instead of straight, which is a mechanical fix at the drum rather than anything wrong with the cable itself. Those unsure which fault they have can also read about free garage door estimates in Bellaire, TX.
A garage door cable crooked and early fraying
The point where a crooked-winding cable rubs against itself is exactly where fraying tends to start first, which is why catching this early prevents a bigger cable failure down the road.
A garage door cable crooked on Bellaire's older doors
With a large share of Bellaire's houses built between 1970 and 1999 or earlier, drum shafts across the city have had plenty of time to shift slightly out of original position. Bellaire's flood exposure from Brays Bayou is a further source of hardware that's shifted or corroded unevenly. Most Bellaire homes sit on generous lots with a garage in daily use. Call (346) 220-4724 for a garage door cable crooked anywhere in Bellaire before it frays or jumps.
